McCain considers pro-choice VP

without comments

Presidential candidate John McCain took a step toward party unification by saying that he would consider a pro-choice Vice Presidential pick, even going so far as to drop the name of former Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge of Pennsylvania.

McCain’s reasoning, according to this article, is that adding differing opinion on the ticket will bring the party together.

I happen to disagree. Just as the far-Left don’t support Sen. Casey of Pennsylvania or Sen. Bayh or Hagel (a Republican), the far-Right will not support Tom Ridge as the potential second in line. The Republicans might as well vote for a conservative Democrat…or did they die out with the dinosaurs? There’s a reason the two party system is breaking down. The reason is simple: there are no principles anymore. Both parties under the candidacies of McCain and Obama have very agreeable platforms. Though they try to distinguish themselves out on the campaign trail, they are no different to voters as Pepsi or Coca-Cola are. They may have a slightly different taste and formula, but they are both ultimately soda.

McCain and Obama should really distinguish themselves for the voters. Stop flip-flopping if you want to restore the greatness of America, and take a definitive stand on principles.

I personally don’t care if the VP is a pro-choicer, but many people do. If McCain picks Ridge or anyone else that has a record of being slightly in favor of abortion rights, the GOP will suffer many more losses in the years to come.

Hutchison 2010?

without comments

From the Houston Chronicle’s political blog.

Hutchison: More hints about run for governor

U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison dropped more hints about running for governor in 2010 (when fellow Republican Gov. Rick Perry says he’s running for re-election again) as she spoke to the Texas Association of Broadcasters this morning.

Hutchison addressed several key federal issues — the move to digital television, taxes, a media shield bill — and then told broadcasters that she looks forward to working with them over “the next few months or however long I am in Washington.”

As the crowd chuckled, she added, “and maybe again in other venues in the future.”

Her thoughts about Washington? She likes being in the Senate but “the longer I’m in Washington, the more I understand why both senators and prisoners say they’re serving a term.”

Stupid Republicans!

without comments

The Texas GOP needs to go back to campaign school. Scared of Libertarians, really? Then our party is using the wrong message! It sickens me to know that the Democrats only need five seats to take the majority. This is unacceptable. The Republicans will lose those seats if they continue to ignore Texans. I will vote in hopes of keeping GOP control, but once we do, the next step will be to oust Craddick. Can’t the Republicans find a better leader?

Don’t fail me GOP, and especially don’t fail Texas. You’re already walking a fine line.

Obama wants delegates seated.

without comments

Remember the hullabaloo surrounding the delegates in Michigan and Florida. A travesty. When are the voters going to get fed up with the Democratic Party? I mean, taking voting privileges away is not new to them. But at least golden(brown) boy-Barack Obama is doing what he does best, presenting a faux front of unity by supporting a full seating of the delegates.

They should have never been stripped of their delegates for trying to get their primaries earlier. That, however, is another story. Then the DNC was going to give them some of the delegates! What is going on in America. It’s bad enough we have to nominate using “superdelegates” because the Democratic Party believes the American people don’t know what’s good for them.

The DeanNC is just nuts!
